Sidmouth residents are being invited to try a plant-based diet this month as part of the increasingly popular Veganuary initiative.

A display stand offering free information and recipe booklets is at Sidmouth Library for the rest of January.

More and more people are switching to veganism, and Sidmouth Vegans member Sharon Howe says it is never too late to give it a try.

She said: "With more shops, cafes and restaurants getting on board each year with special Veganuary offers, it’s never been easier to make the switch.

"If you think one person can’t make a difference, think again! One person going vegan for a month could reduce water consumption equivalent to 1,200 baths, cut carbon emissions equivalent to driving 1500 km in a car, prevent deforestation equivalent to one third of a tennis court, and spare the suffering of 30 animals. Just imagine the impact 2 million people can have!”
