It was a double celebration for Sidford Rainbows leader Frances Hallett on February 22 – not only was it her birthday, but she also received a long service award.
Division Commissioner Helen Kingdon visited the 1st Sidford Rainbow Unit to present Frances - known to the Rainbows as Butterfly - with her 10 years’ service badge for her work in the Guiding movement.
There was also a birthday cake for Frances who attended with her husband Ben, a unit helper.
A spokesperson for the group said: “Frances is a dedicated and joyful leader who encourages the girls to be themselves and provides a varied and exciting programme.
“Rainbows is all about developing self-confidence, building friendships, learning new things and having fun. Girls get their hands dirty with arts and crafts, get in touch with nature and play games - it's all about learning by doing.”
