Emergency calls to Devon and Cornwall Police's 999 line are currently being affected by 'intermittent technical issues'.

The glitch is also affecting the 101 incident reporting system.

The 999 number should still be used in an emergency, and calls may be put through to another force. The details will then be passed on to Devon and Cornwall Police and they will be able to deploy resources.

Officers are asking people to use the police website for contacting them on non-emergency matters.

The force says officers have been deployed out on patrol 'to maximise visibility and reassurance at this time'.
