A Sidmouth dog exercise park that has proved a ‘game changer’ for owners is celebrating its first anniversary.

Unleashed Core Hill was opened last year by Caroline Martin and her brother Andrew Burrough on part of their family farm in Salcombe Regis. It was in response to the need for a wide-open space where dogs can run free off lead without the risk of disturbing livestock or other walkers.

It consists of a secure 3.5-acre exercise field, which customers can book for a time slot when no other dogs and owners will be using it.

There are shelters for owners to use in bad weather, waste bins throughout the park, and a wash-down area for dogs.

During the company’s first year in business it has worked with local one-stop dog shop Totos to introduce extra elements including an dog activity area with tunnels, jumps and a water feature. Unleashed Core Hill also supports the charity Pawsome Pensions, which helps look after retired police and fire service dogs in the region.

Caroline Martin said: “The positive feedback we receive is wonderful. The park offers safety and enjoyment, a quiet tranquil place for owners to allow their dog to run free off lead or training without worry.

“With natural rustic agility elements, dogs have fun while owners can take in the stunning back drop of Sid Valley views from the park.

“One regular visitor commented, ‘Unleashed Core Hill is a game changer for many dog owners in the locality’. Visitors tell us they are able to relax and enjoy time with their dog, knowing they can run free off lead without fear of meeting less friendly canines, avoiding risk of encountering livestock, wildlife or general traffic.

“We are delighted it benefits so many within the community as well as visitors to Sidmouth from further afield.

“We are committed to maintaining and enhancing the facilities, and we take pride in keeping a clean, tidy and smart park for our visitors.  We thank all our valued visitors for their wonderful support and look forward to sharing our next instalment with you soon!”
