Sea Fest was an amazing success. It was great to see so many people enjoying the sunshine, stalls, food and entertainment during the day.

I was struck too by the level of interest there was in the cycling campaign run by the Vision Group for Sidmouth.

Many people attended our stall in the marquee to sign up to our campaign to enhance the provision of cycling routes in the Sid Valley.

If you missed the opportunity to do so on the day, it is still possible to do so by visiting our website: www.visionforsidmouth.org/sidmouth-cycling-campaign/

The Bicycle Ballet, in part funded by the Vision Group, also drew a lot of interest.

The stunts were very entertaining and demonstrated that bike riding can be fun, although we don’t recommend you try some of these on the Sidmouth roads!

The Vision Group commits to continue its endeavours to find a practical solution to the implementation of cycle paths in and around the area.

There was also a great deal of interest in the work being undertaken by our group of volunteers in Glen Goyle.

Representatives from the team were present at Sea Fest and we able to engage with many enquiries about the work being undertaken.

Several very favourable comments were made regarding the improvement of the glen and if you would like to be a volunteer we would love to hear from you.

Our website www.glen-goyle.vgsidmouth.co.uk is where you will find all the current information. Our volunteers meet each Thursday morning for two hours from 10am.

The Sustainable Sidmouth Champions Awards being run by the Vision Group are still open for nominations to be made.

The awards seek to recognise businesses, individuals, community groups and schools who have and are contributing to a more sustainable environment.

The award winners will be announced in September and will be recognised within the community for their achievement.

If you wish to make a nomination please enter the details on our website www.sidmouth-champions.vgsidmouth.co.uk
