TWO bids to build 236 new homes in Sidmouth, and give the town a major affordable housing boost, are gathering pace.
Different developers behind both projects have promised at least 60 per cent of homes built on land of Howarth Close, and at a site near Sidford, will be affordable.
As residents had their last chance to comment on developer Devon and Cornwall Housing's proposals to build 133 homes on land off Howarth Close on Tuesday, Sidmouth Town Council planners this week supported the bid.
Persimmon Homes vision for 103 homes on land off the A3052 at the junction of Woolbrook Road and Sidford High Street, is set to be revealed in the next few days as plans have been submitted to East Devon District Council (EDDC), and are currently being processed.
The fate of both projects should be decided by EDDC's development management committee by early next year.
