So while we are all told that electricity is the future, can an electric vehicle really benefit your business or is it just another sales ploy on behalf of the Government?

It’s happening more and more, as you drive down the road you see a car in front of you with no exhaust pipes signaling that it's electric, but can it really be of any use to you from a business perspective? Well, I suppose that depends on your business. If you live in the town or close by and your business is in the town then there could be advantages, after all the Government is doing its best to convince everyone to have one yet for some they are not so advantageous.

I certainly wouldn’t have one as it would be a waste of time and money, forget the fact that we live in Bournemouth, if I drive from Sidmouth to Harrogate it’s five hours, or Bowness on Windermere, it's nearer five and a half, so I suspect I would be sat at a charging station on a motorway services somewhere twiddling my thumbs for an hour and the journey taking considerably longer, so absolutely no point. But, If you don’t do those ridiculous distances in one go it may well be an advantage not to have to queue in an old-fashioned petrol station. There are now plenty of small electric vans around that could well do everything its petrol or diesel equivalent does but what about the cost?

They are significantly more to buy, which could exclude many but the prices are coming down. You can now lease an electric van for around two hundred pounds a month which is a similar ballpark figure to more traditional vehicles so it may be a very real possibility and with small cars coming in at a similar price it maybe the future of business transport after all, unless of course you need to travel five hours at a time.
