Dog owners are invited to bring their pets to Coldharbour Field Kitchen in Ottery St Mary on Monday (August 28) for an event in aid of a local animal charity.
‘Pups, Pints and Pizza in the Paddock’ is being held in recognition of International Dogs Day and will also be raising funds for local animal rescue centre ARC.
There will be a photo booth for dogs and a raffle to win a hamper full of dog treats and gifts from Coldharbour Farm Shop. Dairy-free icecreams for dogs will be on sale, and there will be a dog food bank for anyone wanting to make donations.
Co-owner Andrea Broadhurst said: “The Field Kitchen has been dog friendly from the start and we’re always delighted to welcome friendly pooches – and their owners!
“It’s an informal event in the paddock below the café and is just for a bit of fun. We’re planning to have a custom-made doggy photo booth where our furry models can strut their stuff. We hope to share lots of these on social media afterwards – our very own Coldharbour Cheeky Mutts Gallery!”
A hamper packed with dog treats and gifts sourced from Coldharbour Farm Shop will be top prize in the fundraising raffle for ARC, which provides rescue, relief and re-homing for lost, unwanted and abandoned domestic animals in the area. There will also be a doggy food bank for anyone who would like to make a donation of pet food.
Every dog visiting Coldharbour Field Kitchen for the event will receive a treat, while owners can enjoy a freshly made pizza from the wood-fired oven in the new outdoor kitchen, accompanied by a pint of Otter ale or Sandford Orchards cider. The bar is also well stocked with wine, spirits and soft drinks.
Andrea said: “A little bit of housekeeping! Dogs need to be kept on leads at all times while they’re here, and owners must be prepared to clear up after them - and take any ‘business’ home with them.”
The event will run from midday until 4pm, weather permitting. The Field Kitchen can be found at the top of Slade Road, just outside the town.
