Sidmouth College has presented £500 to a local organisation supporting the mental wellbeing of young people.

Students at the college raised the money through sponsored walks, and vice-principal Matt White presented a cheque to Di Fuller from Sid Valley Help, representing the Wellbeing and Health Action Team (WHAT).

WHAT is a collaboration of local organisations that raises money for mental health initiatives helping young people at Sidmouth College and in the wider community.  It has representatives from Sidmouth College, Sidmouth Primary School, Sidbury Primary School, Charlie Waller Trust, Action East Devon, Parental Minds, Sidmouth Coastal Community Hub, Young Devon and Sid Valley Help.

Last year WHAT funded extra mental health support for many children and young people, along with their parents and carers when needed.

Mr White said: "This is a fantastic community funded approach to dealing with young people's mental health.  The college and wider community of Sidmouth are so fortunate to have such an amazing provision offered through the WHAT team's tireless work and dedication to support young people in our community. A massive thank you as always."
