A charity is seeking donations of warm winter coats for people in need in the Sidmouth, Ottery St Mary and Honiton area.
Wrap Up South West is part of the national Wrap Up campaign run by various Rotary clubs and Hands On London, a volunteering group in the capital. The Rotary e-Club South West Peninsula, an online club, is running it in the local area.
The charity is asking for donations of good quality winter coats, raincoats and fleece jackets for adults and children. They must be clean and in good condition with all zips and buttons in working order; this is not a disposal service for dirty or damaged clothing.
Donations can be dropped off in the special boxes at Ottery Help Scheme in Silver Street, Tesco in Honiton or Sidmouth Library during opening hours, between Friday, October 20 and Monday 30. The collected coats will be distributed to local charities that work with people needing warm clothing this winter.
The president of the Rotary e-Club South West Peninsula, Geoff Hawes, said: “We know that many people in our community are struggling to make ends meet, and a warm coat is a necessity for staying warm this winter. We hope that this coat collection will help to keep people warm and dry."
