An appeal to raise £2,000 for a community defibrillator has been launched by Sidmouth's Fourways Residential Home and Fourways Community Care.

They plan to install the defibrillator next to the Fourways Community Care office in Glen Road so that it's easily accessible to the public.

They've set up a crowdfunding page and will be holding a series of fundraising events with the aim of hitting their target by Christmas. There will be donation boxes at the care home and office.

A spokesperson said: "We feel that there is a lack of defibrillator in this local area and it would benefit our community knowing that there is an AED closer to us.

"Having a defibrillator nearby is important because they substantially increase the person's chance of survival during a cardiac arrest."

"Our residents and clients are looking forward to fundraising for the defibrillator.

"We hope you will be able to support us in raising as much money as we can for this cause. Thank you in advance for your support."
