A Christmas Day drop-in event for anyone who felt like some company was 'a lovely experience', according to its organiser.

Andie Milne and her team from Oasis Cafe hosted the lunchtime session at the Mustard Seed Cafe.

Around 30 people attended over the two hours, enjoying hot drinks and festive nibbles. There were also celebration cakes for two Oasis Cafe regulars who had birthdays around Christmas time.

Andie said: "It was a lovely experience sharing a few hours on Christmas day. Everyone who attended said it had given them lovely memories.

"Several of those joining us on Christmas day were experiencing their first Christmas without their loved one, and found just sharing a cuppa made the day bearable. Others were carers who were able to have respite, which they found invaluable."

The team also collected £70 in donations for Sidmouth's Wellbeing and Health Action Team (WHAT), a charity supporting young children and families with mental health issues.

Andie said: "I would like to thank The Mustard Seed for allowing Oasis to host the Christmas Cafe, along with Buzz Coffee, Sidmouth Food Bank, Tom and Jo De Remmer and friends of Oasis Cafe, who helped make it such a special day.

"To me Christmas is about giving and sharing, and Christmas 2023 was definitely one of those."
