The A375 will be closed south of Sidbury for National Grid work next week, disrupting the number 9 bus service.
The closure of Chapel Street - between Monday, January 22 and Friday 26, both inclusive - is needed for the installation of underground services to existing properties.
A signed diversion will be in place for vehicles.
The number 9 bus will be unable to serve Sidbury during the closure period, and Devon County Council has organised a free replacement taxi service to run Monday to Friday between Sidbury and Sidmouth. The service will be run by Peak Taxis and all journeys must be booked by 6pm on the day before travel by calling 01395 513 322.
