Sidmouth's Oasis Cafe is providing a free 'warm space' for anyone wanting to escape the chilly winter weather.

The cafe is open every Wednesday from noon until 2pm at the Leigh Browne Room of the Dissenters Hall.

Homemade soup and cakes are available along with coffee and tea, and there are board games and jigsaws for entertainment.

The cafe has created a display board to put out outside during opening hours to let passers-by know they can pop in for a warm welcome.

It's a non-religious meeting place for anyone who would like to come in from the cold, have a chat with friendly volunteers or just be in the company of other people.

Oasis Cafe was set up in September 2020 to provide a safe socially-distanced space during the Covid pandemic. It is now also used by the Gateway homelessness support team to meet people needing advice.

The cafe is funded by donations, a community grant from Sidmouth Town Council, and its own fundraising activities.
