Sidmouth-based wildlife photographer Mark Taylor Hutchinson will be giving a talk next month on his adventures diving with sharks and crocodiles.

Mark has travelled the world getting up close to creatures most people would keep at a safe distance.

He will describe his experiences of underwater photography and display the images he's captured at Kennaway House on Friday, April 12 at 7pm.

Mark said: "The purpose of the talk is to showcase how complex and fascinating sharks are and, although much maligned predators, they perform such a vital role in the ocean.

"Yet they sadly face an uncertain future, with a 90 per cent depletion in numbers in the past 30 years due to the finning trade and unregulated fisheries."

During his talk he will also present some of his pictures of raptors and seabirds in the UK, photographed when the Covid outbreak made it impossible to travel abroad.

Mark is a former editor of an international dive magazine and has travelled the globe photographing sharks. His photos have been published in BBC Wildlife, travel and lifestyle magazines. He is also a keen wildlife artist and his painting of a great white shark was nominated for International Wildlife Artist of the Year by the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation in 2018.

Tickets for his talk are £15, which includes a glass of wine. Admission is free for under 18s.
