The National Acrylic Painters' Association (NAPA) is holding its annual exhibition at Kennaway House in Sidmouth from Monday, May 6 until Thursday 16.

Works by 23 artists will be on show, displaying a wide variety of styles and techniques.

NAPA is run for artists, by artists, as a vehicle for collective exhibitions to promote the excellence and innovation of acrylic paint as a medium. The association was formed in 1985 at a time when acrylic paint was largely unrecognised in its own right, unlike oil and watercolour.

NAPA believes that ‘acrylic paint is the 20th century`s positive contribution to painting. It is a medium that is capable of the widest range of approaches in technique and methods, thus stimulating creativeness and fresh thinking in theory and art ideology. As such it demands that maximum expression should be sought through its versatility.’

The current president of NAPA is the internationally acclaimed painter, writer and broadcaster, Alwyn Crawshaw.
