Sidmouth's beach toy library will return to the Esplanade this summer - and there'll be another one in a separate location.
Last year a small shed was set up on the Esplanade by Sidmouth Plastic Warriors, filled with buckets and spades, toys and games that beachgoers could borrow for a few hours instead of having to buy new ones. It was funded by Sidmouth Town Council and the shed was painted by members of the Repair Cafe.
The initiative was so popular and successful that it's being expanded. There will be a larger library shed at the Esplanade this year, along with another at Jacob's Ladder beach.
People are being asked to donate any beach toys or games they no longer need, but not to buy new ones, as the aim is to encourage re-use and recycling.
The Esplanade library shed is expected to be in place this weekend, and anyone with items to donate can simply bring them along and add them to the library's collection.
