The Regency Ball held at the Methodist Church Hall on Monday, August 5 was an elegant and enjoyable event.
Georgia Delve, who led the event, has been teaching workshops on Regency Dance during Sidmouth Folk Festival. Georgia said: "It's been completely wonderful. I really appreciate being part of the festival and having the opportunity to share my love of Regency Dance. The Regency period was such a fascinating and creative era."
Dancer Lynn Wilson said: "Georgia is a magnificent teacher - cheerful, instructive and encouraging towards all participants. We're really looking forward to dancing at the Ball."
Ian Holt added: "As well as being an excellent dance teacher, Georgia has been telling us about the history of the dances, which enhances our enjoyment of them."
Ann Parker goes to regular Regency Balls in Surbiton. Ann said: "I like all kinds of dance but Regency dancing is graceful, but fun and energetic at the same time."
The music was provided by Double Dichotomy, and dances included ones which appeared in the popular TV adaptation of Pride and Prejudice starring Colin Firth, including Mr Beveridge's Maggot and Shrewsbury Lasses.
