The Ted Wragg Trust has been shortlisted for two national education awards.

The trust, which runs 18 schools across Devon, is in the running for the special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) award at the MAT Excellence Awards.

It is also a contender for the Best Practice in Inclusive Education Award at the Education Business Awards.

The MAT Excellence Awards recognise the noteworthy achievements of schools, students, and staff within trusts across the UK and their positive influence on communities.

They provide trusts with a platform to present their skills and insights.

The Education Business Awards, sponsored by Cornerstone and backed by the Department for Education, applaud the exceptional accomplishments and loyalty of schools and academies nationwide.

Since their start in 2009, these awards have been honouring both state and independent schools.

The Ted Wragg Trust, which includes schools like Exmouth Community College and Marine Academy Plymouth, has made significant efforts to assist children with SEND in accessing a wide-ranging curriculum and the necessary support to succeed.

The staff at the trust have created their own SEND strategy and established a speech and language team to help identify and address the needs of students at an early stage.

This year, the trust also introduced its Emotional Literacy and Wellbeing Strategy to help the over 1,200 children identified with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.

Moira Marder, CEO of the Ted Wragg Trust, said: "We are hugely proud of our students, staff and families who work tirelessly together to make sure our SEND students have the best possible experience, and this shortlisting is testament to this collective ambition and dedication.

"We know that the SEND landscape is increasingly difficult, but as a trust we are committed to continuing to innovate and empower our schools to create supportive environments where every student can thrive."

The MAT Excellence Awards ceremony will take place later this year in London.

The trust also boasts schools such as All Saints Academy Plymouth, Cranbrook Education Campus, Exwick Heights Primary, Honiton Community College, Isca Academy, Lipson Academy, Marine Academy Primary, Queen Elizabeth’s School, St James School, St Luke’s Church of England School, Sidmouth College, West Exe School, Tor Bridge High and Whipton Barton.
