Sidmouth Town Council has elected a new chair and vice chair.
Councillor Hilary Nelson has been appointed chair, replacing Councillor Chris Lockyear, who served in the role for three years.
Councillor Nelson, who has been vice chair for the past three years, was unanimously elected at the town council's annual meeting on Monday, May 12.
Councillor Paul Dodds was also unanimously elected to be the new vice chair.
In addition to these appointments, the council has decided on the chairs of its four main committees.
Councillor Kelvin Dent will continue as chair of planning, while Councillor Ian Barlow remains chair of environment.
Councillor Edward Willis Fleming has been selected as the new chair of the tourism and economy committee, and Councillor Rachel Perram is now the chair of youth provision.
Upon taking office, Councillor Nelson said: "In Sidmouth we are truly fortunate to have an exceptionally strong community, where people care for our town and for one another and who work hard to make the Sid Valley the best place it can be in which to live, work and visit.
"As a town council, our job is to support everyone in our community and our dedicated officers and enthusiastic team of volunteer town councillors work hard to do just that, putting in a huge amount of time, energy, and commitment.
"The town council will continue to work to support the business community, including the high street, and to enhance support for culture and the arts."
