Aldi has announced a fresh pay rise for store staff, building on its position as the UK’s highest-paying supermarket.
Store assistants in Devon will earn £13.50 per hour from 1st April 2026, with the potential to rise to £14.47 based on length of service.
The increase is part of Aldi’s second pay rise this year and follows enhanced maternity benefits announced in January.
Giles Hurley, chief executive officer of Aldi UK and Ireland, said: "Our colleagues work incredibly hard to deliver exceptional value for our customers, and we're rewarding that dedication with the highest pay in the sector.
"We’ve invested over £42 million in colleague pay this year because we know that every single member of Team Aldi is fundamental to our success and deserve nothing less."
Aldi remains the only major supermarket to offer paid breaks to all of its workers, a benefit estimated to be worth £1,500 per year.
The pay rise forms part of a £42 million investment in colleague pay for 2026, benefiting more than 28,000 hourly-paid store staff across the UK.
Since January, Aldi has also extended maternity pay to 26 weeks at full pay.
Aldi employs more than 45,000 people across the UK.
The business plans to open 40 new stores in 2026 as part of a £370 million investment programme, alongside a further £300 million earmarked for upgrading and extending existing sites.
The supermarket is also hoping to open more stores in East Devon, including Exmouth and Sidmouth.
