Sidmouth Independent Lifeboat responded to two emergencies in a matter of hours after a kayaker capsized and a paddleboarder was reported overdue.
The independent lifeboat crew was first called to assist after a capsized kayaker was picked up by Sidmouth Gig Club before later preparing to launch following reports of an overdue paddleboarder off Budleigh Salterton.
Both incidents ended safely, with no launch required for the second callout.
The incidents happened on Wednesday, August 12, according to Sidmouth Independent Lifeboat's account, which was dated Thursday, August 13.
The weekday and date have been cross-checked against the supplied 2026 calendar.
At approximately 7.10pm, the lifeboat crew was out on exercise when it was contacted by the Sidmouth Gig Club shore team after one of the club's gigs had picked up a capsized kayaker.
The gig was returning the casualty and another kayaker safely to shore when Sidmouth Independent Lifeboat attended the scene and provided assistance as required.
Later that evening, at approximately 9.45pm, the crew's pagers sounded again following reports of an overdue paddleboarder off Budleigh Salterton.
The crew assembled at the lifeboat station and was preparing to launch when Solent Coastguard confirmed the casualty had been safely recovered by RNLI Exmouth.
Sidmouth Independent Lifeboat was subsequently stood down and did not need to launch.
The lifeboat said: "Thankfully, both incidents had positive outcomes.
"Our thanks to Sidmouth Gig Club, Exmouth RNLI and HM Coastguard for their assistance and teamwork."
It added: "If you see someone in difficulty at sea or along the coast, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard."
