Sidmouth Town Band thanks crowd after Last Night of the Proms

Sidmouth Town Band has sounded a high note of thanks after its Last Night of the Proms, with the group describing the evening as a “fabulous night” and thanking the performers and audience who took part.

The concert was held at Connaught Gardens, Sidmouth, on Saturday, August 15, with the poster advertising a 7.30pm start after the gardens opened from 6pm.

The event poster listed soprano soloist Marie Elliott, compère Marc Colson and musical director Adrian Harvey, while the band's post-event message also named David Hayward as guest conductor.

A Sidmouth Town Band spokesperson said: “Wow! What a fabulous night for our Last Night of the Proms at the Connaught Gardens! 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧”

The spokesperson added: “A huge thank you to our wonderful guest conductor David Hayward, our fantastic Soprano vocalist Marie Elliot, and our compere the always entertaining Marc Colson! And of course the wonderful audience who came to support us!”

Ahead of the concert, people attending had been reminded to bring picnic hampers, tables, chairs, blankets and flags.
