THE ex-licensee of a popular pub and restaurant handed over more than �500 to Sidmouth Lifeboat.
Generous patrons of the Diggers Rest in Woodbury Salterton helped raise the sterling sum as part of a weekly collection for local causes.
Former owner of the premises, Phil Berryman handed over a �540 haul that was raised in 60 weeks.
Richard Thurlow, lifeboat trustee and fundraiser, said: “We’re amazed and very happy to receive his unexpected donation.”
