MORE than 500 was given to Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in memory of a Newton Poppleford woman.
In total 550 was given by family and friends of Betty Harding, nee Saunders, at her funeral held in Newton Poppleford Parish Church on Saturday, March 7.
Betty, who worked at the village's primary school for several years, was very fond of children and her family thought it fitting that the money be given to the London based hospital.
The cheque was presented to a representative of the hospital by Francis Saunders, the youngest of five brothers to the late Betty, who died at the age of 66.
All of the family would like to pass on their grateful thanks to everyone who attended the funeral and made a donation.
