THE sun shone on Saturday helping Beer Music 4 Life raise more than 6,000 for charity.

The 12 hour live music event attracted in excess of 1,000 people to Beer Albion Football Field and approximately 6,300 was raised for FORCE and Children's Hospice South West.

And other representative of local charities also took part in the event collecting donations.

Beer Primary School pupils kicked off the fun with a drumming session and 200 entrants took part in the Axe Valley Runners 'Midsummer Madness' run.

Dozens of performers took part in the music extravaganza, all giving their time for free.

The crowds were fed and watered with an array of sumptuous food including a barbecue, cream tea and a pig roast.

Memory balloons were sent up into the sky while people signed the memory book, paying tribute to friends and family.

And in a poignant moment Steve Graham sung 'Let it be' in memory of Ann Barber, treasurer of Music 4 Life who recently died.

The finale of the event took the form of a fireworks display and the Party Animals sung out the successful day.

Annie Boalch, one of the organisers, said: "A great time was had by all and a fantastic amount of people turned up to support us."

Steve and Mandy Graham, who organised all things musical, gave a huge thank you to all of the bands.

Mandy added: "Without their help and support we couldn't put the event on."

Beer Music 4 Life Committee would like to pay special thanks to Sounds Unreal Roadshow, Ledger Scaffolding and Axe Music, of Axminster, for all of their help and for providing equipment.
