POLICE have been out and about in a bid to crack down on underage drinking in Sidmouth.
POLICE have been out and about in a bid to crack down on underage drinking in Sidmouth.Neighbourhood beat manager PC Steve Lemon and special constables from across the district patrolled parks and the town centre as part of Operation Piva on the evenings of Friday, April 4, and Saturday, April 5.PC Lemon said: "Throughout these two evenings, numerous stop checks took place and a large quantity of alcohol was seized, ranging from spirits and wine to cider and beer. "All the parks were patrolled and the town was fairly quiet on the Saturday night, because we had caused so much hassle to these youths the night before."The equivalent of the alcohol seized will go into the Drunk-o-Meter, made by Sidmouth College students, which is currently at 175 litres. Operation Piva will continue throughout the summer months.
