Fire crews are currently at the scene of a blaze at a barn near Ottery St Mary.
Appliances from Ottery, Middlemoor and Honiton and a water carrier from Danes Castle were sent to Coombelake shortly before 1am.
On arrival, a barn measuring approximately 50metres by 15 metres that contained hay and farming equipment was found to be well alight and an additional pump was requested from Honiton.
Crews got to work using breathing apparatus, compressed air foam and mains jets to bring the fire under control and assisted with the evacuation of animals from the building.
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said the incident is currently ongoing and crews remain on scene tackling the fire, although the response has been scaled down.
