Charity shops in Sidmouth will now stock a device aimed at preventing pick pockets.

As previously reported in the Herald, lanyards, which attach purses and wallets to pockets and bags, have been handed out to vulnerable people around the town for several months.

PCSO Jay Pepper applied for funding from the Safety Partnerhsip Scheme for the lanyards and following their success another batch was recently given to Sidmouth Police.

The lanyards can be found in all seven Sidmouth charity shops, including Sue Ryder, Cat Protection League, Hospice Care, Cancer Research UK, British Heart Foundation and Marie Curie Cancer Care.

There are also a small amount of lanyards available to pick up at Sidmouth Police Station.
