AN antique dealer from Essex this week finally got his hands on a ‘priceless’ prize that helped raise 2,000 for Sidmouth’s Kennaway House- nearly a year after he won it in a raffle.

David Taylor, 44, was staying in Branscombe in December last year when he landed the double quilt in a fundraising competition in aid of the prestigious town venue.

Delighted David finally got the opportunity to collect his prize, carefully crafted by North Sea Quilters in the Netherlands, when he found time to visit Sidmouth at the weekend.

“It’s fabulous,” said David, “it’s the first thing I’ve ever won.”

Chairman of the Friends of Kennaway House Jackie Street handed over the quilt. “David didn’t want us to send it through the post,” she said. “We were very lucky to have it, a tremendous amount of work went into it. The amount we raised was phenomenal.”
