Police have launched an investigation after a sexual assault in Sidmouth town centre.

An unknown male offender allegedly approached a woman in broad daylight before sexually assaulting her with inappropriate touching.

It is believed the man then ran off up an alleyway.

The incident took place in Cross Lane at about 12.30pm on Wednesday, February 28.

Police are investigating the incident and would like to identify a man in a CCTV image as he may have vital information which could help with their investigation.

Anyone who recognises him or has any information about the incident has been asked to contact police by emailing 101@dc.police.uk or by calling 101 quoting CR/017890/18.
