A POLICE dog handler arrested a man on suspicion of possessing drugs following a search in Newton Poppleford last week.
The officer was on patrol in the area when a motorist was spotted driving erratically at around 3.20am on Friday, a police spokesman said.
The car was stopped and a full search was made by the sniffer dog at the scene.
It is alleged a quantity of drugs, which police believe to be heroin, as well as drugs paraphernalia was found.
Police confirmed a 44-year-old man from the Exeter area was arrested at the scene on suspicion of possessing a Class A drug with intent to supply.
The man was taken into custody for questioning, before being released on police bail to return to Heavitree Police Station in June.
