An exhibition of paintings of the Jurassic Coast by Ottery artist Colin Bentley goes on show in Bridport in October.

It is part of a three-year partnership project between Colin and the Jurassic Coast Trust, in which he is painting scenes of the coast all the way from Exmouth to Swanage. His exhibition in Sidmouth last year attracted thousands of visitors and raised more than £8,000 towards the Trust’s work conserving the World Heritage Site.

The exhibition at Symondsbury Estate’s Tithe Barn includes paintings of Portland Bill, Lyme Regis and Chesil Beach. Some of the proceeds from selling the art will again go to the Jurassic Coast Trust.

Colin has drawn on the geological expertise of the Trust’s Ambassadors to understand the geology of the coast in the way that a life drawing artist studies anatomy. He said this has given him a new understanding of the coast he has known for 20 years.
