STUDENTS at Sidmouth College put their artistic skills to use to help police tackle underage drinking.Members of school art club have spent the past two months making a 'Drunk-o-Meter' for police to show how much alcohol they seize during Operation Piva.Art teacher, Laila Gale said: "It's all the children's design. It's measured in 15 litre marks and the bottle tops go in the top and gradually fill it up. There's an arrow which can be moved and they can write on it how much has been seized."Art club members presented their creation to Sidmouth neighbourhood beat manager PC Steve Lemon and PCSO Steve Blanchford-Cox.PC Lemon said: "I think it's brilliant. The idea is to demonstrate the volume of alcohol that is seized and, hopefully put a value to it. "This is by no means the total amount consumed by the youths, but only the small proportion that we manage to catch them with."East Devon District Council has given the police three recycling bins, two of which are already full of empty alcohol bottles and cans, which have been seized.
