ASBO youths arrested by Sidmouth Police

TWO youths have been arrested by Sidmouth Police following 12 breaches of anti-social behaviour orders in June.

Sidmouth Town Council heard at its July meeting that, in all, 57 reported offences took place in the Sidmouth area last month, including 13 thefts, 14 criminal damage cases, four burglaries, six assaults, 12 breaches of anti-social behaviour and eight other offences.

But, said Sergeant Andy Turner, one had to put that in perspective when comparing it to 339 offences in the Exmouth area.

He said: “Regarding the 12 breaches of anti-social behaviour order, two individuals were arrested, charged with offences and remanded in custody.”

He praised his police team involved in the case, saying: “Most officers are working beyond their hours, for no additional pay. One officer worked a 14-hour shift to deal with the offenders.

“I want you to understand the work our boys and girls are doing on your behalf. Hopefully we will have a good result there and prove the Anti-Social Behaviour Act is successful.”
