A WIGGATON dairy farmer has been handed a prestigious industry award marking the excellent hygienic standards of his milk.

Norman Pyle, of Higher Woolston Farm, nabbed third place in the Milk Link Quality Awards which were announced last month.

The award recognises a dedication to milk quality with all applicants going through a detailed selection process to win their awards. To be awarded, Woolston Farm's milk achieved outstanding bactosans and low cell counts with the farm's standards of cleanliness, attention to detail and animal welfare also rated as top-notch.

Mr Pyle, who was recognised in the less than 500,000 litres-a-year category, said: "We are all absolutely thrilled. For a long time we have been dedicated to maintaining excellent hygiene practices at our farm and it feels great to be recognised in this way.
