Local charity ‘must be doing something right’ as they are awarded for encouragement of active lifestyle.
The Axe Valley and District Conservation Society (AVDCS) has been commended for its effort to utilise the natural environment in promoting an active and healthy lifestyle by winning the East Devon’s Are of Natural Beauty’s Acland Award.
Doug Rudge, chairman for the AVDCS, said: “As a charity that is run by a small group of unpaid volunteers in our spare time, AV&DCS have been doing our best to make a difference in and around the Axe estuary since the 1980’s.
“To be selected as winners of the Acland Award for 2018 proves that we must be doing something right.”
The society caters for all ages and runs various walking programmes throughout the year with the aim of promoting a physically active lifestyle and the benefits of getting outdoors.
