The Mill Street business’s display was based around a gingerbread house. Owner Kevin Wood said, having won in 2008, and having been a runner-up last year, it was nice to be back on top. “It’s the staff that did it, they always do a fantastic job,” he said. “The competition is good for the town, it’s great to see so many businesses making an effort.”

The Fishing Box, Gilbert Stephens solicitors and Roberts DIY store were highly commended. Chamber of Commerce chairman Marc Perkins said: “It was a tough decision, all the displays were great, but Millstone won because we could see a lot of man hours had gone into the display.”
