POOCHES and their owners are invited to a charity fun dog show in Beer next week.

Organised by Beer resident Julie Barrett, the event is in aid of Dogs 4 Adoption and other animal charities.

The dog show, which takes place on Saturday, May 22, has both pedigree and fun classes, including best rescue and waggiest tail.

Any dog aged six months or over can enter the show, whether pedigree or cross-breed.

People can enter their pets (1 per dog per class) in the show from noon, with judging starting at 1pm and all proceeds will go to Dogs 4 Adoption.

There will also be lots of entertainment throughout the afternoon, including Seaton's Fire and Ice Majorettes, a children's Spirit Combat martial arts display, and a dog agility display.

Activities and games include a 'dogstable' course where everyone who takes part receives a certificate, running races for children of all ages, a bouncy castle and face painting.

Refreshments will be provided by Puffins Pre-school and there will be stalls and charities raising funds for Dogs 4 Adoption, The Oldies Club, Cats Protection, RSPCA and the RNLI.

Julie, trustee for Dogs 4 Adoption, said: "It should be a fun day out for all animal lovers, whether you have a dog or not. And for those looking to adopt a new pet there will be plenty of opportunities to speak to the various animal rescues in attendance."

I spoke to you just now about the Beer Village Dog Show and Fun Day which I'm organising.

The event will be held on Beer Albion Football Field. Admission to the show is 1 per adult (children free) and optional admission fee of 50p per dog with free entry into a prize draw.
