SIDMOUTH’S air cadets squadron is on the lookout for a new recruit after one of its leaders earned her stripes and became a Sergeant.

Becky Trechmann-Vance, 25, was deemed ready to go before the Wing Board and was tested on her knowledge of the ATC, child protection procedures and her future in the organisation.

She has now been promoted to Sergeant and will return to Honiton squadron where she hopes to put her new skills and experience into practice, eventually progressing to the rank of Flight Sergeant.

This now leaves a vacancy at Sidmouth squadron.

Anyone interested in learning more about volunteer roles within the ATC can email or call 01395 578759.

Young people, aged from 13 to 18, interested in joining as a cadet can visit

The ATC meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, from 7pm to 9.30pm at their purpose built HQ in Chambers Close off Stowford Rise.
