THE latest exhibitions at Beer's Marine House and Steam Gallery are proving an aesthetic hit with the crowds.

The village's very own Andrew Coates has been exhibiting his fine paintings at Marine House and the tactile and unusual pottery figurines created by Amanda Popham, who lives at Thorncombe, are on display at the Steam Gallery.

This is Andrew's eighth exhibition at Marine House and he has 35 new works for his show, offering a selection of local Devon landscapes.

Views of Dartmoor which have never been seen before, the River Otter, River Axe and Beer cliffs are among the beautiful paintings on offer.

And up the road at the Steam Gallery 60 new pieces have been created by Amanda for her show.

Some of her pieces are playing on the theme Seven Deadly Sins and range from figurines to vases, jugs, bowls and articulated animals.

Both exhibitions have been running since Saturday and are already being hailed as a success.

Julia King-Keast, of the Marine House, said: "We have been inundated with visitors since the show opened and I think, partially, that is because they are both local artists and well respected within their fields."

The exhibitions both run until Friday, July 10 and the galleries are open Monday - Saturday, 10am-5.30pm and Sunday, 10am-5pm.
