Organisers of Beer Autumn Show have expressed their disappointment at the lack of children’s entries at this year’s event.

Beer Horticultural Society chairman John Lang said the group hopes to get the village’s school involved next year. Imogen Hard, three, was the only entry into the children’s photograph category.

Mr Lang said: “I thought it went very well - the only thing was that there was no children’s exhibits.

“There were a reasonable amount of entries and probably the biggest charms we have ever had.”

The largest charm was produced by Chris Loud and measured more than a metre in length. Mr Loud also won four cups on the day, including the ‘best in show’ accolade.

Mike Gardener won the Novice Cup and Keith Legg received the Pot Mum Cup. Barbara Greaves took home the Barrel of Beer Cup.

Mr Lang will be offering residents the chance to take home one of the charms from April.

He added: “They can take them away for free under the proviso they bring them back to the show.”

He thanked local businesses for supporting the winners’ prizes.
