A SUCCESSFUL Beer Music for Life party raised more than 500 last Friday.

Around 100 people turned up to the event, held at the Dolphin Hotel without any charge, and featured eight groups including The Scavengers, Dave Green, Rob Lees, Ollie and Ellie, Jamie G and Guests.

Annie Boalch, organiser, said: "It was a really good night. It really got rocking at about 10pm and everyone was up dancing. It was a great success and we were really pleased.

"It is just nice to have some music in the village and I think people really appreciate that."

The party was one of many events to be held in the run up to the Midsummer Music for Life, a 12 hour live music concert on June 20 in aid of Children's Hospice SOUTH WEST and FORCE and other local charities.

Annie added: "It was a taster for some people who hadn't been before and to see the type of music that will be played in the summer. A few people said they will definitely go to the Music for Life concert now.

"I would like to say thank you to all the bands for playing for free and to Steve and Mandy for organising the bands. It was a great effort by a lot of people."

The next event, which is in aid of Cancer Research UK, is the Big Breakfast on March 13 at Steamers Restaurant.

Annie said: "Although the event is for Cancer Research UK, some of the FORCE team will be there in a supportive capacity to meet sufferers of cancer and their friends. They will be handing out information on the day.
