Beer Coastguard was called out yesterday (Sunday) after reports of 40 tonnes of cliff fell at Jacobs Ladder.
Devon and Cornwall police were already on the scene when the crew arrived at 1.15pm and confirmed no-one had been injured.
Terry Hoare, station manager for Beer Coastguard, said: “About 40 tonnes came off the cliff, no-one was injured. Police were first on the scene with the police helicopter. The council were aware of it.
“On our arrival we checked that it was not a further danger to the public or blocking beach access.
“No further actions were required and we returned to station.”
