A SUCCESSFUL coffee morning raised 600 in the run up to Beer's Midsummer Music for Life concert. Representatives of FORCE and Children's Hospice South West, the main two beneficiaries of the up and coming summer event, attended the coffee morning on Saturday held in the Mariners Hall. People turned up in their droves to browse the numerous stalls, including the Guides and Brownies selling daffodils and the Beer Bag Project. Beer Activities leaflets and the new Beer Diary, which includes all of the main events held in the village, were handed out on the day. Sponsors are being sought for the Midsummer Music for Life event to be held on May 20. Around 500 is needed to pay for a firework display to end the concert in style. Anyone who would like to sponsor the event or to donate raffle prizes please ring Annie Boalch on (01297) 21305.

* The next fundraising event, a quiz night, will be held in the Dolphin Hotel on Tuesday, May 28 from 7.30pm. Entry is 2 per head and the winners will be awarded a prize.
