VEGGIE and flower growers around Beer are getting ready for their annual chance to show off their growing skills.Beer & District Horticultural Society's 83rd annual Flower Show will take place in Mariner's Hall, Beer, on Thursday, July 31 at 3pm. Open classes for collections of vegetables, dahlias, sweet peas, gladioli, carnations, zinnias and antirrhinums as well as various pot plants will run alongside amateur classes which will include a larger range of flowers and children's classes.Being ecologically aware, one class for children is to make a model from waste material. Others include a vase of wild flowers, grasses and ferns and the funniest animal made from vegetables.There will be plenty of sections to enter for those without green fingers, with adult painting classes, homecraft classes for knitting, needlework, crochet and other crafts, cookery, wine making, photography and senior citizen's classes for knitting, crochet and embroidery.Produce from the show will be sold at around 5pm on the day after cups and trophies have been awarded
