Nine intrepid volunteers braved the elements last week to get Beer ready for the ‘Britain In Bloom’ competition.
Members of the horticultural society planted hanging baskets, troughs and containers thanks to the generosity of local businesses, sponsors and fundraising.
Amongst the flowers planted last Thursday, which help attract visitors to the village in the summer, are red and white begonias at the war memorial, containers and baskets at the Mariners Hall, and 30 troughs running alongside Beer Brook on Fore Street.
