THE 'world premiere' of a short film written and directed by a Beer woman will be held in the village this month.
Christina Evans, 64, decided she wanted to turn her hand to screen writing and directing last year and recruited her friends to help make her idea a reality.
The finished product, which was filmed earlier this year, is an eight minute drama called 'Always'.
Christina, of Clapps Lane, said: "I was bored in the winter and I wanted to do something so I thought 'why not make a film?' as you do!"
The film follows the story of an elderly couple, George and Vera, and George is in hospital.
He wants to visit Seaton seafront but he is too ill so Vera recreates the atmosphere of the seafront in a hospital corridor and they reminisce about their youth.
The story ends on a sad note and Christina, a retired adult education teacher, added: "I wanted to do something that had a twist."
'Always' stars Angela Copsey as Vera, David Clarke as George, Lara Howard as young Vera and Alex Pollard as young George.
Twelve of Christina's friends took part in the making of 'Always', with James Holl filming and editing it.
"It was great fun," said Christina, who has no experience in film making except for a weekend video recording course she did 40 years ago.
"No one had done anything like it before but they all enjoyed it.
"I couldn't get over how professional they all were and we are now thinking of doing a comedy."
She added that the 'world premiere', which takes place in the Mariners Hall on May 29, is "a bit of fun".
"It's all tongue-in-cheek. We are inviting friends and family along to watch it."
Beer Film Society will be providing the equipment to screen 'Always' and Christina extended her thanks.
