Beer unites to raise money for Nepal

Beer residents rallied together to help earthquake-hit families in Nepal, raising more than £2,000.
Organisers worked hard to host a coffee morning and bring and buy sale on Saturday morning, drawing in the crowds despite the bad weather.
Susan Green, one of the organisers, said: “I wanted to catch the momentum of the whole tragedy. It is all very sad. We just wanted people to be able to make a donation.
“People were so generous; they brought it and they bought it. We had a great raffle. It was amazing.”
Mrs Green’s nephew, Ross Adkins, works as a journalist and translator in Kathmandu.
When the earthquake struck, it left family members concerned for a few hours as they waited to hear from him.
She said: “People in Beer have a reputation for really getting together and coming up trumps when it is needed.”
The money will go to the Red Cross Nepal Earthquake Appeal.
