A "PLAGUE of bogus calls" has hit Sidmouth, from callers purporting be utility providers, warns PC Steve Lemon.
Random households are asked to give credit card details over the phone, then asked for a second card's details when the first is "refused".
"We are trying to make everyone aware you don't give out these details over the phone," he told Sidmouth Town Council.
